Internship & Professional Identity in Dance/Movement Therapy

This course offers 3 credits and 30 hours of supervision towards the R-DMT credential.

This course offers structure and support to alternate route students developing the skills and
knowledge needed to apply and practice dance/movement therapy training in a clinical setting.
It supports students’ ability to practice, apply theory, and develop a professional identity as a dance/movement therapist.

The course accompanies students during the first year of their internship work and includes 30 hours of group clinical supervision. Each three-hour session includes one hour of content relevant to clinical internship experience and two hours of dynamic group supervision. It is offered online and/or in person, depending on student location and access.

Note: The course offers support in identifying BC-DMT supervision resources appropriate for each student according to evolving clinical interests in dance/movement therapy and geographical location. There are an additional 40 hours of dance/movement therapy individual supervision required for credentialing. This is an additional cost, and not included in the program.
